SSS Contribution 2026: Updated Rates & Payroll Guide
Your 2026 SSS contribution guide: the 15% rate, employer and employee shares, Monthly Salary Credit, EC, and how to compute payroll deductions in the Philippines.
Last updated July 21, 2026 by Philip Joshua Guadalquiver
The Social Security System (SSS) continues to play a vital role in providing financial protection for Filipino workers through retirement, sickness, maternity, disability, unemployment, and death benefits. For 2026, employers and employees should ensure they are using the correct contribution rates and Monthly Salary Credit (MSC) when processing payroll.
The current SSS contribution rate remains 15% of the employee's Monthly Salary Credit (MSC). For employed members, 10% is paid by the employer, while 5% is deducted from the employee's salary. Self-employed, voluntary, and most Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) members pay the full contribution based on their applicable rules.
SSS Contribution Rate for 2026
The contribution schedule for 2026 remains consistent with the implementation under the Social Security Act (Republic Act No. 11199). This 15% rate is the final scheduled rate and is unchanged from 2025.
| Contribution Item | 2026 Rate |
|---|---|
| Total Contribution | 15% |
| Employer Share | 10% |
| Employee Share | 5% |
| Maximum Monthly Salary Credit (MSC) | ₱35,000 |
| Minimum Monthly Salary Credit (MSC) | ₱5,000 (standard employee floor) |
SSS contributions are computed using the employee's Monthly Salary Credit (MSC) rather than the exact monthly salary.
What Is Monthly Salary Credit (MSC)?
The Monthly Salary Credit (MSC) is the compensation bracket used by SSS to calculate monthly contributions and future benefits. As an employee's MSC increases, both contributions and potential SSS benefits also increase.
For most employed members:
- Minimum MSC: ₱5,000
- Maximum MSC: ₱35,000
Different rules may apply to specific member categories, such as kasambahays and OFWs.
How to Compute Your SSS Contribution
Here's a simple example based on an employee earning ₱30,000 per month:
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Monthly Salary | ₱30,000 |
| Applicable MSC | ₱30,000 |
| Regular SS (15% of the ₱20,000 MSC cap) | ₱3,000 |
| Mandatory Provident Fund / MPF (15% of the ₱10,000 above ₱20,000) | ₱1,500 |
| Total SS Contribution (15%, incl. MPF) | ₱4,500 |
| Employer Share (10%) | ₱3,000 |
| Employee Share (5%) | ₱1,500 |
| Employees' Compensation (EC) — employer only | ₱30 |
| Total Employer Remittance (SS + EC) | ₱3,030 |
| Total Amount Remitted to SSS | ₱4,530 |
Note
The 15% contribution covers the Regular SS program for the Monthly Salary Credit up to the ₱20,000 cap, while the portion corresponding to an MSC above ₱20,000 is credited to the member's Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF / MySSS Pension Booster). On top of this, the employer also remits a separate Employees' Compensation (EC) premium of ₱30 for a Monthly Salary Credit of ₱15,000 and above (₱10 below that). EC is shouldered entirely by the employer and is not deducted from the employee.Payroll systems should automatically apply the correct contribution based on the official SSS contribution table.
